Are you struggling to make EMDR work? Are you getting discouraged by clients’ lack of progress or your discomfort with EMDR? Are you frustrated by cases with complex trauma? EMDR works incredibly well but not for every therapist. This course addresses the issues that have come up over and over in consultation over the past 10+ years. We will review the complexities of complex trauma and EMDR. This is not a review course, but will address issues of therapeutic relationship, regulation, history taking, viewing the phases through an attachment lens, and using ego state therapy to facilitate processing. This course will develop clinical competence in using EMDR through didactic presentations, demonstrations, and supervised practicum. The goal of this workshop is to help clinicians feel competent in using EMDR with clients with complex trauma, both in their case conceptualization and in their treatment implementation.
